I found out yesterday that Robert Sabuda is working on pop-up book versions of The Chronicles of Narnia (and Peter Pan, another of my favorite fantasies, but I don't blog about that, do I?).
While I'm sure that the new Narnia movies had an impact on the selection of the Chronicles, I would say it's safe to say that they will be based solely on the books. Not only is it logical, but Robert has based his previous pop-up books on their original illustrations. His adaptations of Alice in Wonderland and The Wonderful Wizard of Oz followed (respectively) Tenniel and Denslow's original illustrations, so I think we can expect some adaptations of Pauline Baynes' artwork.
That would mean not only would we see some of our favorite Narnia illustrations re-created as 3D-paper pop-outs, but some new scenes that look like expansions of the originals.
HOW COOL IS THAT???
